How We Assign Lot Numbers?

Several Suncor Stainless products have lot numbers assigned to them with Wire Rope and Master Links being the most notable items.

Wire Rope: When a shipment of wire rope is received it receives a lot number unique to each individual reel. These lot numbers can be found on the suncorall on sun-5a™ (K) K:\ISO-9001\ ISO Logs\ Manufacturing Lot

Numbers Log.

When a length of wire is removed from this reel, the lot number is a fixed to that length of wire rope. When these products are shipped, the lot number(s) are recorded on the packing slip as well as in SX.  Lot numbers can be located on the suncorall sun-5a™ (K) K:\ISO-9001\ ISO Logs\ Manufacturing Lot Numbers Log.

Master Links: Master Links and Master Link Assemblies are required to be 100% proof load tested before they can be placed in inventory. Typically, when a shipment is received, they are sent to the Quality Control lab, where they get visually inspected for defects and measured for compliance to Suncor’s specifications. Next, they are placed on our Wirop 70 foot long 50 ton tester and each link is pulled to its designed proof load. The Wirop produces its own report that also generates a certificate number.

The S0650-0032, S0650-0025 & S0650-0020 Master Links have a 316 Stainless Steel lot number tag attached. The tags are stamped indicating part number, lot number, Wirop certificate number, WLL (working load limit) and proof load. The smaller sizes of this series (S0650-0010 through S0650-0016) have a 1/2 x 2″ adhesive label affixed with lot # and the Wirop certificate number. When these products are shipped, the lot number(s) are recorded on the packing slip as well as in SX. Lot numbers can be located on the suncorall sun-5a™ (K) K:\ISO-9001\ ISO Logs\ Manufacturing Lot Numbers Log. Master Link Assemblies follow the same process as the Master Links with the exception that the legs used will have the lot numbers recorded in the log to ensure traceability.

CNC machined parts, chain and chain products also receive lot numbers;

CNC Production Control Travelers are created for products manufactured in the CNC area of the machine shop. Each CNC Production Control Traveler contains information that’s necessary and required to manufacture the product. Lot numbers are created to ensure traceability and are recorded in the Manufacturing Lot Numbers log. This log can be located on the suncorall sun-5a™ (K) K:\ISO-9001\ ISO Logs\
